2019 GEEB Symposium Slideshow

Remember when you found that cool plant/insect/organism in the field? Or that really great photo of you doing your science in the lab? Or how about that ingenious experimental design that you created?

We want to show off YOUR hard work and photos at the 2019 GEEB Symposium!

The GEEB symposium is quickly approaching and is scheduled for Saturday, February 2nd.

Please send us photos of you doing what you do best – your scientific work! These will be displayed in a slideshow during the GEEB symposium for attendees to see the large variety of work done throughout our biology departments.

You do not need to be presenting to submit photos of your work!

The purpose of this slide show is to show off what we, in GEEB and associated fields, are doing in addition to the results we present. It takes a lot of work to get to those results, and we want to appreciate the other aspects that contribute to research outside of data analysis. Grad students are more than just data and figures (or so we keep telling ourselves)! Moreover, we have an incredible diversity of biological research that takes people all around the world, and we want to celebrate and marvel at those adventures of grad students here at UIUC. After the symposium, the slideshow will be uploaded to the GEEB website. If you would rather not share your photos publicly on the GEEB website please let us know so we can edit the version of the slideshow that is published online.

When you send us your photos please include the photo credit and a short description of what is going on in the photo, e.g. species name, location, title, what you are doing, etc. depending on the photo. You can decide on which formatting you most prefer. You can also decide which photos are relevant (field work in Australia – great, picture with your dog – maybe not as appropriate). We will submit the slide show to the SIB office before the symposium, and they will run the slideshow on the TVs mounted in NHB.
