Tools for Spiralian Development

Our lab is currently developing the black-foot snail, Crepidula atrasolea, as a new model for biological studies in the Spiralia. Below we provide details for maintaining lab colonies of C. atrasolea. A developmental transcriptome has been sequenced that encompasses cleavage stages through organogenesis. The genome for this species is in the process of being sequenced, and transgenic approaches are currently being tested in the lab. Our goal is to rear successive generations of C. atrasolea snails for experimental research.
