Carrot (Daucus carota ) is a biennial plant: it completes its life-cycle in two growing seasons (within two years). Germination and vegetative growth take place during the first year, with food storage in underground parts of the plant for over-wintering. In the case of carrot, resources are stored in a swollen root.
