7-Stipule scars

The winter twigs of all Magnoliaceae have stipule scars that encircle the twigs (yellow arrow). These are winter twigs of the American tulip tree or tulip poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera). Also, the stems are aromatic because they contain ethereal oil cells.
