Microtus Data Files

Home Range Data Files

Explanation

This folder includes the data files of compilations of home-range indices for individuals captured 2 or more times during a 3-day trapping session. The indices were made from plots of the captures of individuals on grid maps for the site. Included for each indices is the animal number, sex, reproductive condition, and body mass (See the basic data files). For most files the trapping session number and year/month are included; for some only the trapping session number is included.

Data files include indices for each site as well as a compilation of data for the sessions included in the primary analyses for each unmanipulated habitat. See the list of individual sites for analyses of data from manipulated sites.

Procedures

We calculated home-range indices (HRI) from the distance (in meters) between the first 2 captures of individuals caught 2 or more times during a 3-day trapping session (Gaines and Johnson 1982; Slade and Swihart 1983) and (2) the greatest distance between 2 captures during the 3-day trapping session.
