CRITICA Distribution CRITICA (Coding Region Identification Tool Invoking Comparative Analysis) is a program for identifying the protein coding regions in DNA based on a combination of evidence from dicodon usage frequencies and a comparative analysis of the relative conservation of DNA sequence and their potential protein products. CRITICA is described in the paper: Badger, J. H., and Olsen, G. J. 1999. CRITICA: Coding region identification tool invoking comparative analysis. Mol. Biol. Evol. 16: 512-524. For the time being, this directory contains an unofficial release (1.0.5b) of the program and documentation files that includes a bug fix for about 1/3 of the reading frames that run off the end of a contig (something that matters more for partial genome projects than for completed genomes). In general, the latest versions of CRITICA can be obtained from: http://www.math.uwaterloo.ca/~jhbadger/critica/ If anyone notices a version newer than 1.0.5 (01-Aug-2000) appearing at Jonathan's site, please E-mail me so that I can remove this copy of the program.
