iBio Program

iBio engages Illinois undergraduates in faculty-mentored research. The program has three components: a semester-long seminar on biological research and independent research project, and a summer training program. Dr. Sears helped develop the program, and every year leads the seminar on biological research in the fall semester and the summer training program, and mentors iBio students in biological research in her lab.

IGB Genome Day

Every year the IGB together with SACNAS puts on Genome Day, a free event for children Grades K-4 at the Orpheum Children’s Museum. Genome Day brings together scientists and the public through activities on the environment, evolution, energy use, and human health. Dr. Sears co-chaired this year’s Genome Day, and Sears Lab members led an activity on mammal anatomy and development.
