Filing a Petition

Contact Carol Hall with the details before proceeding, or follow the instructions below.

1.  Read the instructions and fill out the petition form.

Types of petitions:

  • Change Curriculum
  • Re-entry
  • Register "in absentia"
  • Time extension
  • Use of Coursework more than 5 years for Master's
  • Use of Coursework more than 6 or 7 years for Doctoral
  • Late add to Mater's/Doctoral degree list
  • Extend time for "I" or "DFR" grade
  • Count other UIUC Graduate Course(s) toward degree
  • Count course(s) taken while Undergraduate toward degree
  • Transfer Course(s) from another accredited institution
  • Count courses taken while Undergraduate toward degree
  • Course level change for current or past term course(s)
  • Overload (21 or more hours; 12 or more hours for Summer)
  • Grade mode change after deadline for Current Term or past term course(s)
  • Add a Graduate Minor or Concentration
  • Adding a course or Increasing or Decreasing credit to a course, to a past term
  • Drop a course without a grade of "W" after the drop deadline for Current term
  • Drop course(s) taken in a past term with a Grade of "W"
  • Tuition Refund Request
  • Withdrawal/Cancellation from University after deadline
  • Reinstatement after Dismissal for Low GPA
  • Early admission to the Graduate College (early admission form required)
  • Other (please specify)

2. Your current department is School of Integrative Biology and current degree is MS (10KS0314MS) (MST students use 10KS0293MS).

3.  Obtain proper signatures (at least 2 signatures required) from research advisor and director of program. Faculty should give a detailed reply, not just "OK" or "I approve."

4.  Take petition to Carol Hall, 286 Morrill Hall, for review.  She will forward the petition to the proper office and keep a copy in your file.

5.  When a decision is made, you will receive an email from gradacserv@uiuc.edu.
