Hi! I am a graduate student in the plant
biology PhD program. My research is focused on restoration of tallgrass
prairies and community ecology. The specific question my research
addresses is: What part do underground seed banks (native prairie seeds
naturally stored in the soil) play in the restoration of old pastures
and hayfields?
One of the great benefits of
being a biologist is that I get to spend time outside - in lots of cool
places like Cameroon (Africa), Brazil and different ecosystems in the
U.S. This picture of me was on a controlled burn of a prairie.
Controlled burns are one of the tools land managers use to restore and
manage prairie ecosystems.
Looking forward to a great semester!
