Plant Biology 102: Lecture Outline
Capturing Energy: Photosynthesis

Lecture Objectives

By the end of the lecture, you should be able to:

  1. write the summary equation for photosynthesis.
  2. list the changes in form that energy undergoes as it is converted from light energy to the energy in chemical bonds of sugar (glucose).
  3. list the reactants and products of the light-dependent reactions and the Calvin-Benson Cycle.
  4. draw a simple diagram of a leaf to indicate the location of photosynthesis and the path of acquisition of the reactants.
  5. draw a simple diagram of a cell including chloroplasts indicating where the light-dependent reactions and the Calvin-Benson Cycle occur.
  6. briefly describe the role of enzymes in the process of photosynthesis.
