Applying to the School of Molecular and Cellular Biology

Candidates interested in one or more of the departmental programs in the School of MCB (Biochemistry, Cell and Developmental Biology, Microbiology, and Molecular and Integrative Physiology) apply directly to the School by following one of the two paths outlined below:

    Important Note: In the "Proposed Program," under "Application Type," make sure you select "Molecular and Cellular Biology" from the pull-down menu and enter the departmental program (Biochemistry, Cell and Developmental Biology, Microbiology or Molecular and Integrative Physiology) that interests you in the "Fields of Specialization." Your response to “Field of Specialization” is not a commitment, as many students rotate through labs in different MCB departments before selecting one for thesis research.

     

    2. International students that can not pay the application fee should contact Graduate Admissions for a paper copy at mailto:mcbinfo@life.uiuc.edu .


The application deadline is January 15, but you are advised to have all materials submitted before this date if you wish to be considered for fellowships or NIH Traineeships.  Applications submitted after the January 15 deadline are not guaranteed to be reviewed by the admissions committee.  Please note that interview decisions will not be made until after the deadline date.

If you do NOT apply online the following materials need to be submitted to MCB in order for your application to be complete:

For reporting GRE and TOEFL scores to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, please use the following codes:

Note: If you are an international student you do NOT need to declare your finances in order to apply.
