Announcements and Forms

Most recent announcements are found at the top of this list.

  • From now on please download and print out your own copy of the lecture handout, and bring it to class to assist in your notetaking.

  • A Mock Quiz will open on Wednesday, August 26th at 11am and close on Friday, August 28th at 8pm. This Quiz will not count toward your grade, but is just to make sure you can assess LON CAPA and the MCB300 Mock Quiz. Please logon and take the Mock Quiz. You will have 15 minutes to complete the Quiz after you open it. The first real Quiz #1 is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2nd.

  • Welcome to MCB 300 Fall 2009 (an introductory course about microbiology). Please check this site often for course information and updates.

  • Classes meet at 9-9:50 AM on Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's, in room 213 Gregory Hall. The first class will meet on Monday, August 24th.

  • For the first week of lectures, hard copies of the lecture slide handouts will be provided to you in class. After the first week, check the Website to download and print your own copy of the lecture handouts to bring to class.

  • The textbook used for the course is titled "Microbiology: An Evolving Science" by Joan L. Slonczewski and John W. Foster (W. W. Norton & Company, Inc. 2009). I checked one of the bookstores in Campustown and it was selling for $159.15 for a new copy ($119.35 for a used copy, if you can find one). Besides purchasing the book from other sources, you can also purchase an e-book online version for less than half the list price from the publishers (go to nortonebooks.com). Another possibility is to purchase individual chapters online for $2 each from the same website (there are 30 chapters in the textbook, but not all of them will be used during the course).
