- I have a question about alpha and beta 1,4 glycosidic linkages. Can a polyssacharide have alternating alpha and beta linkages? For example, in the slide about the alpha and the beta Glucose molecules coming together to form Maltose, I understand that the bond that forms is an alpha 1,4 linkage. However, if another molecule was added on to the Beta glucose, the bond would be a 1,4 Beta linkage.(20736 views)
