Domains of Life; Prokaryotic vs. Eukaryotic Cells

ID #1004

How small is 'small'? This was in the lecture notes and I don't understand what it means.

Much of that lecture was spent talking about concepts that require a frame of reference. Words like big, small, slow, heavy, etc. are all relative. What's small to you might be big to a butterfly and so forth. So when talking about cell size, what do we mean by small, and is there a "range" of acceptable sizes, or can cells just keep getting smaller or keep getting bigger? The answer to that last question is NO for reasons we discussed in class.
