I know where EF-TU comes from but I don't understand where EF-G comes from.

It's just a protein that the cell makes and keeps out in the cytoplasm, where protein synthesis occurs. When a ribosome needs to translocate, EF-G comes in and brings a GTP molecule with it, which gets hydrolyzed to provide the energy needed to drive the movement of the ribosome.
