Transcription and RNA Processing

ID #1154

In a prokaryote, does the sigma subunit do anything after it has bound to a promoter?

Nope; it's only real function is to identify a promoter sequence and get RNA polymerase started at the right +1 nucleotide. That's why once it has done this, it falls off the holoenzyme, leaving the core enzyme.
