How would adding the salt separate the DNA from the proteins?


Let me answer your question with some of my own questions. First, what is "holding" the DNA to the histone proteins? Next, what happens when you add NaCl to an aqueous solution (i.e. water)? Once you answer these two questions and think about the significance, I believe you'll be able to draw your own conclusion here!
