DNA Structure and Replication

ID #1144

Why is the statement "In DNA replication, the template strand is read 5'-3'." false?

If you're going to be making a nucleic acid molecule in the 5'-3' direction, which you have to do, then the template for that new molecule would be antiparallel to the new molecule. So you always read the template in the 3'-5' direction to be synthesizing in the 5'-3' direction.
