Why does ADP---->SLP but not to ATP? What is the function of SLP?

SLP is not the name of a molecule. As I said in class on Friday, it stands for Substrate Level Phosphorylation. This specifically refers to the phosphorylation of ADP creating ATP via the energy provided by a suitable exergonic reaction in respiration (glycolysis or Krebs cycle).
