Energy and Metabolism

ID #1652

When you refer to the greatest amount of free energy change (delta G), are you supposed to take into account the positive or negative sign? for example, would a free energy change of +5 be greater than that of -5? or would it be the same because the actual change is the same?

With regards to a statement like this, because it says "highest delta G" it means that +2 would be higher than -8 for example. If it was worded something like largest or greatest in magnitude, then you'd just be looking for the biggest number, either positive or negative.
