What is chemiosmosis? Is it another name for the function of the ATP Synthase? I saw it labeled in a diagram in the Lecture 11 slides.


Chemiosmosis is a fancy term for using an ion gradient (usually a proton gradient) to do work. Oxidative phosphorylation is an example of chemiosmosis.
