Proteins and Enzymes

ID #1509

I know we don't have to know specific formulas of amino acids, but would it be correct in saying that we should know which of the amino acids you gave in lecture are polar, non-polar, basic and acidic?

You will be given a sheet of paper on your exam packet that has all 20 amino acid side chains, arranged into the categories we're using for this class. That way, if you're presented with 5 different amino acids in a question, you'll easily be able to identify which category they fall in. I'm much more concerned about your ability to interpret the consequence of being in a particular category than memorizing which category it belongs in.
