When it says that an enzyme lowers the energy barrier in a reaction is that the same as saying that the enzyme infuses energy into the reaction?


No, these are not synonymous concepts. Lowering the energy barrier (called the activation energy) just means that it will take less work to convert substrate(s) into product(s). Enzymes don't provide (or infuse) energy into a system, although as we're learning now in class, they can utilize energy released by exergonic reactions to drive endergonic reactions.
