ID #1039

In the notes from Lecture 6 page 5 of the handout on the top slide it says that by increasing concentration of a natural substrate the competitive inhibitor is "flooded out." What does it mean by flooded out?

Experimentally, a researcher can add a surplus of natural substrate to an inhibited system and then determine the effect of this surplus on the action of the inhibitor molecule. This is called flooding out the system.
