ID #2393

what is subunit when referred to the structure of protein?

Subunits refer to the parts of proteins that have quaternary structure. So if you had a protein that was a dimer, it would have two subunits. Each subunit would be its own polypeptide.
A trimer would have three subunits, and so on.
