Why do introns have to be removed in eukaryotes in order to make a genomic library for producing protein?

Ahhh, careful... Introns are not removed from a genomic library, but they are not present in a cDNA library. They have to be absent from cDNA molecules, or the bacterial host that we're going to ask to make our protein for us won't make the protein product we're expecting.
