I think you mentioned something in lecture about how viruses can't infect across all 3 domains or something like that. I apparently didn't catch all of that, so could you please let me know what that part of the notes is trying to say?


What I said in lecture that day was that although some viruses can cross species lines (if the receptor molecules they're looking for are found on different species and are close enough in structure), they don't cross domain lines -- phage don't infect animal cells; archaeal viruses don't infect bacteria, and so forth.
