Actin and Myosin

ID #2297

Can someone please differentiate between actin filaments and MTs? Are actin filaments a kind of MT?

Both actin filaments and microtubules (along with intermediate filaments) are examples of cytoskeletal elements. The cytoskeleton provides physical support to cells as well as enabling movement of cells and movement of material within an individual cell. Actin filaments and microtubules are distinct from one another, but both are types of cytoskeletal fibers.
