Golgi Apparatus

ID #1971

Could you explain what the phrase "what starts cystolic stay cystolic" means?

If you're the part of a transmembrane protein that's exposed to the cytoplasm when you're at the ER membrane, then when that protein gets sent via vesicle to the Golgi, that region of the protein will still be facing the cytoplasm. When it gets to the Golgi and fuses with the cis-Golgi, it will still be facing the cytoplasm, and so on.
