Golgi Apparatus

ID #1292

I know that ceramide is synthesized in the smooth ER, but then is it sent to the Golgi, and the golgi makes both the Sphingomyelin and the Glycolipids?

Yes, this is the way it happens. Ceramide gets transported (as a component of a transport vesicle membrane) to the Golgi, and then converted into either sphingomyelin or a glycolipid.
