Endoplasmic Reticulum

ID #1987

GPI anchors are created in the rough endoplasmic reticulum, but are they able to move to other organelles and even the plasma membrane?

The only reason GPI-anchored proteins are assembled is to display them at the plasma membrane, facing the extracellular space. So while they will temporarily be part of vesicles and the Golgi, they are always destined for the plasma membrane.
