Endoplasmic Reticulum

ID #1863

In the diagrams in lecture notes, n-linked glycosylation and glycolipid anchor addition finished products were both attached to the membrane; Do these ever seperate and be transported to somewhere else or are they permanently attached to the ER membrane?

Yes, it's actually quite rare that a protein would stay in the ER; usually they do go elsewhere, including the plasma membrane or the Golgi membrane. With GPI anchored proteins, they will all go to the plasma membrane.
