Endoplasmic Reticulum

ID #1283

What does SRP stand for? It binds to the signal sequence and then to SRP receptor. What does it do after that? Just let the protein enter the ER?

SRP = signal recognition particle. After it docks at the surface of the ER, it is released, and yes, in the process, the translocon is opened and the protein begins being inserted into the ER.
