ID #2012

What happens to the strand of DNA that gets pulled off the strand in the mismatch repair system?

This strand doesn't actually get pulled off in one piece. After the endonuclease activity produces a nick in the newly synthesized strand, the exonuclease activity removes one base at a time through that region. Those bases will be recycled and reused.
