Paternal Effects on Offspring Behavior

Male sticklebacks Gasterosteus aculeatus build nests out of sand, vegetation, and a glue they produce in their kidneys. They provide all the parental care for the eggs and young fry, including aeration, removing fungus, and protection from predators.

I am currently working with Alison Bell at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on an exciting project investigating how it is that fathers impact the future behavior of their offspring. Stay tuned!
