Plant systematics and phytochemistry.
Chemical ecology.
Studies involving the role of plant secondary compounds in biological interactions. These involve a number of
techniques from organic chemistry and biochemistry, as well as isozyme and DNA analysis, and systematic and phylogenetic analysis of the plant
themselves. Current projects in my laboratory include study of the systematics phytochemistry, and phylogeny of Acacia species, examination of
cancer preventive, cardiac protective and antioxidant, compounds from fruits, and investigation of mosquitocidal compounds from plants.
