Exams
1. Midterm exams will be given on Monday nights from 7-9 PM. Arrive 10 minutes early as the exams will begin at 7 PM sharp. The exams will cover material from lectures, discussion sections and homework. Please see the IB 150 Exam Info Webpage for further details concerning each exam. Exams will be multiple choice and short answer. There will be three midterm exams.
2. Bring your UIUC photo ID, several sharp #2 pencils, an eraser and a non-graphing calculator.
3. Any backpacks, books, notes etc. that you bring to the exam room must be placed at the front of the room during the exam. Important: Cellphones/Smartphones/MP3 players are prohibited and will be confiscated if brought to the exam. If you are caught with any electronic device other than a calculator during the exam, you will be treated as if you are cheating on the exam and will receive a zero for that exam. TA’s and other exam proctors are not responsible for security of belongings placed at front of the room during the exam.
4. If you are ill or incapacitated on the day of an exam, seek medical assistance at McKinley Health Center or elsewhere as needed. Your exam score will be pro-rated if your absence is excused for medical reasons. If possible, call or email your TA to advise them of your situation, but this is not required. When you are well enough to return to classes, go to the Office of the Dean of Students of your college. Ask them to send confirmation of a confining illness to Tracey Hickox, the Course Coordinator, via the School of Integrative Biology office.
Conflict Exams
1. Conflict exams are typically given from 4-6 PM on the regular exam day. You must make arrangements to take a conflict exam by 5 PM on the Friday prior to the exam day by filling out the webform on the IB 150 Exam Web Page. You must make a separate request for each exam.
2. You will be emailed permission to take the Conflict Exam by 5 PM Friday prior to the exam, if permission is granted. This email will contain the location of the exam.
3. Your UIUC photo ID and written evidence of the conflict are required to be admitted to the conflict exam room. If you are not on the conflict list, no exam will be ready for you.
4. The Conflict Exam is often not the same as the regularly scheduled exam, but it may be similar. You will therefore not be permitted to take your exam with you when you leave the exam. Your exam will be given to your TA to return you at the next meeting of your Discussion Section.
5. Most conflicts that are permitted are for a regularly scheduled course being taken for credit at UIUC. Other possible acceptable conflicts include a course taken for credit at Parkland College, employment by the university (we will contact your supervisor), or participation in an official UIUC event, such as an athletic event. Most other reasons (for example, social events, Kaplan courses) will NOT be acceptable. If you are unsure if your conflict qualifies, please contact Tracey Hickox (hickox@illinois.edu) to find out.
6. Student athletes should identify themselves via email to Tracey Hickox early in the semester so that we can deal with possible schedule conflicts as soon as possible. We will work with athletes and other students participating in official university events to help you make up missed work, but it is the student's responsibility to initiate such arrangements.
7. Students who need to take exams at the DRES should notify the center as soon as possible so that they can make the best possible arrangements. We are very happy to work with DRES to assist you, but it is the student's responsibility to initiate such arrangements.
