Email Configuration Changes - May 2010 |
Security updates to the life.illinois.edu e-mail system and further steps in the 'uiuc' to 'illinois' transition will require configuration changes in your e-mail client software (Thunderbird, Eudora, etc.) by Wednesday, May 26, 2010. Please check your e-mail client's configuration against the notes provided below. Specific instructions are provided for Thunderbird, Eudora, Apple Mail, and Outlook Express. You can make the configuration changes at any time starting immediately.

Android Choose IMAP for incoming email: Server Name: life.illinois.edu Connection Security: SSL/TLS all certificates Port: 993 (change manually) For SMTP: (outgoing email) Server name: smtp.life.illinois.edu Connection Security: STARTTLS all certificates Port: 587 (should be the default) Thunderbird 2.0 for Mac & Windows Choose 'Account Settings' from the Tools menu. In the list of categories along the left, select your account's name (probably at the top). Change 'uiuc' to 'illinois' in the following fields: E-mail Address Reply-to Address Select 'Server Settings' on the left. Select your SMTP server and click on the Edit button.
