| The fruits of Populus are also loculicidal capsules and the seeds are comose (hairy). This image is of the capsules of Populus deltoides, eastern cottonwood. Note that there are 3 valves per fruit, indicated that the fruit came from a syncarpous gynoecium composed of 3 carpels. |
