The Moraceae is mostly a tropical family, with some species extending into subtropical and temperate regions. There are about 50 genera and 1200 – 1500 species. In your Zomlefer textbook, the Moraceae is included as a subfamily (Moroideae) in the family Urticaceae. However, we are recognizing it as a separate family, and you need to know anything about subfamily Urticoideae in Zomlefer. The Judd et al. text treats the Moraceae as a separate family.
