58-Epigynous insertion

Epigynous — of floral parts (especially petals and stamens), attached above the level of insertion of the ovary and arising from tissue that is fused to the ovary wall.

This longitudinal section of a flower of Fuschia shows another example of inferior ovary and epigynous insertion.
