Looking to Adopt a Pet?

If you are looking for a companion animal, the best place in town to adopt a pet is the local humane society:

Champaign County Huamne Society (CCHS)
1911 E Main, Urbana

384-PAWS (7297)

www.cuhamane.org

I adopted several of my pets from CCHS and they are the best pets ever!  If you aren’t looking for a pet, but would love to get involved in helping homeless animals, CCHS is always looking for volunteers.  You get to have contact with wonderful animals, and help to bring a little joy into their lives – while they bring joy to yours.  CCHS hosts many fundraising events throughout the year to help the animals that come through their facility.  It is a very worthwhile organization.

There are many other pet rescue associations for abused animals in the area.  Here is another one I know about:

CatsNap
Headquarted in Savoy - pets can be viewed at PetsMart daily during even months (Feb, etc)

A no-kill cat shelter and rescue group

352-5243

www.catsnap.org

For other local shelters and rescues, check on-line at Petfinder (www.petfinder.com)

These businesses support resuce/adoption groups:

PetsMart
2017 N Prospect Ave, Champaign

PetsMart Luv-A-Pet Adoption Center allows various rescue groups to adopt animals out of their store on a regular basis.

351-9244

Leisure Time Pet and Hobby
807 N Mattis, Champaign

Leisure Time has contacts for various dog breed rescue groups at their checkout counter.

For more information about shelters and adoption, feel free to contact me or any of the numbers above.
