***Biology 100 is graded on the following scale:

% of Course Points = Letter
Grade
90% --> 100+% = A
80% --> 89% = B
70% --> 79% = C
60% --> 69% = D
<60%= F

Plus and minus grades are not awarded.

*You will be asked to participate in approximately 12 lecture activities during the semester. You will work individually or as part of a small group of classmates. Each activity will generate a paper with your response to the activity. You will be asked to print your name, and write your signature on these papers. You will recieve a score of 1 or 2 points for each activity in which you participate. The total score for ten of these activities will count towards 5% of your total course grade.

** The course grade scale is determined BEFORE extra credit scores are added to each student's course score.

*** Our assumption is that all students admitted to the University of Illinois are capable of earning an A in this course. If you earn 90% of the course points or greater (including extra credit) you are guaranteed an A.

This grade scale may be adjusted (curved) downward, but not upward, based on class performance on hour exams and the final exam.
