Dissection of cis and trans determinants of large-scale chromatin structure

Current work in our laboratory is directed at using cell lines with engineered chromosome regions tagged with the lac operator / lac repressor system for assays that can be used to dissect cis and trans determinants of large-scale chromatin structure. Projects in our laboratory include the identification of sequences within the Hsp70 locus which mediate nuclear speckle association of the Hsp70 locus after heat shock and a Drosophila RNAi screen to identify modifiers of large-scale chromatin decondensation after transcriptional activation of a MT BAC transgene array.
