Page Fredericks

Page is Brian’s lab manager and resident molecular biologist. She got her Ph.D. in immunology at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and learned molecular biology during two post-docs at the University of Washington and at The Forsyth Institute/Harvard University. Her Master’s degree in population ecology provides her an intersection point with all the ecologists surrounding her. On the flip side, Page is also an artist currently producing primarily pastel and acrylic abstracts.

Page’s research involves the molecular diagnosis of pathogens in tick and mosquito vectors, and in infected birds. For this she uses DNA sequencing and a technique called Reverse Line Blotting (RLB), a method using DNA to simultaneously identify a multitude of bacterial pathogens from up to 40 samples at once.
