Research

  • In C3 plants grown under elevated concentrations of ozone, Rubisco activity/content is generally decreased, whereas PEP carboxylase activity/content has been shown to increase. These changes in carboxylase activity/content are thought to increase the amount of reducing power that is available to the cell which then may be used in antioxidant regeneration. Do changes in carboxylase activity/content lead to increased pools of ascorbate and increased activities of enzymes responsible for antioxidant regeneration?
